Fire Escapes
I live in a three storey flat and lately I have been a little worried as I have seen a chap hanging around outside the Fire Escapesin the evenings. Because I live on my own I am incredibly conscious of security and seeing this man near the Fire Escapeshas given me a real cause for worry as I think that he may somehow be able to enter the flats this way. After discussing it with a friend and telephoned the police to tell them about the intruder. The police were really understanding and they really understood my worry about the man being near the fire escapes. They said that they would send somebody over that very night to patrol the area. Their presence has certainly worked and since they came, the man has been nowhere to be seen. I am so relieved and am delighted to feel safe again in my own home. I doon`t think that anyone who does not live on their own can understand quite how vulnerable one feels in this situation, particularly a woman living on their own. What has delighted me no end is that the police are really taking these sentiments on board.
